Crisis in Zimbabwe: Morgan Tsvangirai seeks Joseph Kabila’s involvement.   Friday 23rd October 2009

Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai, met Thursday in Kinshasa, Joseph Kabila, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the South African Development Community (SADC) to "sollicit his involvement" in the political crisis of his country, announces AFP.

"Morgan Tsvangirai came to see Joseph Kabila as President of the SADC to inform him of the situation in Zimbabwe and to solicit his implication for an appropriate solution," said the itinerant ambassador of Joseph Kabila, Seraphin Ngwej.

According to Séraphin Ngwej, President Kabila plans to go in the next few days in Harare with his Mozambican counterpart, Armando Guebuza, who chairs the security organ of SADC, without specifying the day.

"They will assess the situation on the ground and find ways to halt the Zimbabwean crisis," said Minister Rupel.

Mr. Tsvangirai has started a tour in southern Africa after having boycotted the national unity government for many discords and froze relations with the camp of President Mugabe, as he deems "unworthy of confidence.

On Wednesday, he met South African President Jacob Zuma, who has expressed concern to see Zimbabwe "fall back into instability.

Morgan Tsvangirai should continue his tour in Angola.
