The construction of the deepwater port at Banana is a pride according to the OEBK’s General Director   Thursday 9th September 2010         

The construction of the deepwater port of Banana in the territory of Muanda in Bas-Congo (western DRC) is a national pride, "said Director General of OEBK (Organization for Equipment Banana-Kinshasa), Muller Luthelo on a recent interview with the press.

The materialization of this project, he said, including preliminary feasibility studies dating back to the years 1929, then updated in 1975 and updated in the project of construction of the railway Banana-Kinshasa, in conjunction with the erection 1983 Bridge Road Matadi on the Congo River Railroad, with Japanese cooperation, constitute an important component of multimodal communication for the development of the DRC.

The presence of this item at Banana said the director of the OEBK will terminate the relief system for seagoing vessels that landed more than 60% of the cargo at port of Pointe Noire in Congo Brazzaville, resulting in a loss to the exorbitant DRC, the recipient of all such goods by the mere fact that the airworthiness Draught offered the RVM (Waterways Authority) to reach the sea between Banana and Boma Congo, not allow large vessels to access them.

In response to a question on developments in fieldwork, Luthelo Muller said that the time has now acquired the certificate of registration of the site which will be built this port, after having compensated according to land rights Kongo rites and traditions.

He concluded that the arrangements for the completion of agreements for cooperation on this project with the South Koreans are very advanced, without specifying the date of commencement of work
