The Five Works Sites of DRC

Transparency for good governance.

Practicing good governance today is one of the challenges around which the ruling Congolese class intends to do for the DRC’s renewal. No need to recall that during many years, many personalities mismanaged in public affairs. A practice that has led to a chaotic situation in the country and which greatly concerns policy makers in power.

Although things are improving at the present time, it is nevertheless regrettable to note that some unpatriotic acts still persist within state structures. We can quote corruption, fraud and impunity, which are likely to break government’s efforts.

One can allow believing that those are vigils manners don’t belong to a modern society, but from tradition. However, this does not mean that they should be maintained as if they represent positive values.

In this connection, some damning revelations from the report of the inter-ministerial commission “Audit and Good governance” reported mismanagement in public enterprises during the transition period (1+4). The conclusions just open an interesting debate within the political and public circles.
The Minister near the Prime Minister, Godefroid Mayobo recently reported at a press briefing in Kinshasa, a loss of USD 1, 3 billion, due to embezzlement of managers in public enterprises.

No complaisance!

Fighting corruption and all other forms of unpatriotic acts is denouncing first their practice at all levels of Congolese administration. Better yet, be prepared to take legal action against officials found to achieve a real change of habit.

One thing is certain; the Government is determined to pump good governance up through transparent and rational management. As proof, this report was made by an inter-ministerial committee composed of technical guardianship services, which includes experts from the Higher Portfolio Council (CSP), the IGF and the Court of Auditors.
