Interview
DCI: What did push you to organize this campaign?
Pastor Albert Kankienza : It’s following a bitter report that, we, Church, recognizing the evangelical mission that we have to provide the Congolese and the responsibility we have towards our country, we stand to fight against anti values. These have caused the lack of love for the nation and neighbor, corruption, fraud, tribalism, bad trial, influence peddling and favoritism, misuse of public funds, not to mention juvenile delinquency.
DCI : What are the objectives that you pursue?
PAK : Our main objective is to bring the Congolese in general to develop patriotic feelings, positive values and good culture to their country. It is true that times are difficult or hard, this creates despair, grief, regret etc ... And as general bishop, with the whole pastoral body of revival churches, we bring a message of hope, awareness and patriotic awakening to all our countrymen, saying there are still all good reasons to hope for our country’s future. We also aim to change attitudes, behavior of our brothers and sisters so they can love their country.
DCI: Who is the message for?
PAK : This message is for all Congolese without distinction. We have appealed to all students, soldiers, policemen, the senate, the national assembly, the government, parents, students, teachers and professors. And we have made certain recommendations so that everyone understands that it is time to wake up and love our country. We also sent a message to dissident General Laurent Nkunda and the international community requesting them in the name of the Lord to stop the war. We want peace back on all parts of the country so that our brothers and sisters eat and sleep in peace.
DCI : Congo is vast, how are you going to manage it?
PAK : We do not claim to completely eradicate the anti throughout the country but we said that we must start somewhere. We have representations in all country’s provinces; our messages have been sent so that we reach a large part of the population.
But we must also say that revival churches do not receive grants from the state as is the case with our fellow Catholics, Protestants, Methodists and others, on this point of view, our resources are limited for achieving fully the goals we have set, at least we hope to reap good results at the end of this campaign.
