Interview
The Economic Round Table adopted 286 resolutions to revive the Congolese economy.

"Growth and Employment in the DRC" is the theme around which 267 experts from different provinces of the DRC discussed from 8 to 10 September last, while they were taking part on the work of the roundtable on the economy "Government - private sector ". As a result, 286 resolutions were adopted, including eight of the general nature. What should the private sector expect from the resolutions adopted by participants at this meeting? The President of the FEC, Albert Yuma gave few details on the subject during an interview with DCI, Interview…
DCI: What the private sector can expect from resolutions adopted at the round table?
Albert YUMA: expectations are many. Remember that for over a year we developed and tabled a document on the status of the Congolese economy and the head of state had thus recommended the government to organize the round table. This was done to our satisfaction. This was an opportunity for us to recall the 10 minimum priorities needed to satisfy quickly actors of the private sector and to enable the business world to grow.
If at the end of this round table these 10 recommendations are endorsed by members of the government by setting up a timetable and a verification system, we would have achieved what we expected i.e. setting in motion a dynamic development.
DCI: In your speech you recalled the various forums held in the DRC but which have never succeeded, what is special about the forum?
A. YUMA: the new approach is that for once we rely on a working paper that comes from the private sector. We demand that this approach drives makers to take measures on which everyone adheres, to establish an execution program and finally put a monitoring framework of these measures. If these three conditions are met, we will have made the difference with other forums.
DCI: You've focused on good governance and the fight against corruption, what is the guarantee of this in the future?
It is not with us personally to give insurances on the good governance, but that does not prevent us from requiring an ethics of with dimensions our members, the remainder it is the business of the government.
A. YUMA: This is not for us personally to give assurances on good governance, but this does not prevent us from demanding a good manner from our members, the rest is a matter for the government. Good governance should be required from both sides as it has been said during this economic round table between the Government and the private sector.
DCI: In the employment sector, is the forum focused on the implementation of the minimum wage?
A. YUMA: if we have demanded this kind of forum is that most decisions can not be taken so early. In this regard the Ministry of Labor, apart from the consensus of the national labor council, has taken measures without our agreement. This makes difficulty. Let me remind you any time we are creators of employment but not the Ministry of Labor.
We are also pleased that the Minister of Economy has announced measures to ease the creation of enterprises in the DRC because we are not ignore that setting up a company in the DRC is a course of the titans
