Education: British Cooperation has granted 500,000 Euros for school insurance.


The PARUS project (Emergency project for uban and social rehabilitation) aims to rehabilitate urban roads in Kinshasa, including the Avenue Lukengo and Komoriko to Kintambo. Funded by the World Bank for an amount of $ 180 million, the program is a part of assistance to the DRC government to meet the urgent post-election challenges by providing resources to maintain macroeconomic stability and fund crucial expenses.

A strong delegation led by Planning Minister, Olivier Kamitatu and made up of Operations Director of the World Bank for the DRC, Marie Francoise Marie Nelly, the Chinese Ambassador in DRC, Mr. Wu, the coordinator of the UCOPA, Tobie Chalondawa visited last weekend the building site on the avenue Lukengo in Kintambo.

The work is carried out by the Chinese company CREC 7, under the supervision of the Gauff Ingénieure and the OVD. The feasibility studies have been conducted by the Italian firm AIC Progetti. All explanations concerning the progress and difficulties encountered have also been provided to the delegation led by Olivier Kamitatu, the planning minister.

3 parts planned

It appears that work on the avenue Lukengo is a part of Lot 1 which includes the road sections below:
Avenue Lukengo (0.83 km), Avenue Komoriko (0.79 km) and Avenue Militant (3.67 km) On Avenue Lukengo, Workers are building a collector for water drainage. In a second time, the CREC 7 has expected to asphalt the avenue. The duration of the work is normally 18 months from 1 December 2008.
For the part 1, (Avenue Komoriko, Lukengo and Militant), studies, monitoring and the work will cost 11017889, $ 65 Usd, according to UCOPA (Coordinating Unit for projects), an implementing agency of the government

About the part 2, the work is carried out by the Chinese company SZTC, under the supervision of the Gauff Ingénieure (Germany, backed by the OVD. As for feasibility studies, they were conducted by BCEOM (France). The roads targeted are: Avenue Mompono (1.02 km) Avenue Assossa (2932 Km), Avenue-Ngiri Ngiri (0986 Km), Avenue Shaba Landu (3232 km), avenue de l'Ecole (3585 km). For the 11,764 km, the cost of feasibility studies, supervision and work is 15 457 611, 50 Usd.

Regarding the part 3, the UCOPA says that the roads are being designated. The feasibility studies will be conducted by Gauff Ingénieure and the monitoring will be conducted by the same German company at a cost of 396,980, 60 Usd.
According to UCOPA, the overall situation of the rehabilitation work will cover a 17.05km-length, for a total of 26872 482, 75 Usd.

After this inspection visit, Mr. Olivier Kamitatu welcomed the progress of work on the part 1 (Komoriko, Lukengo and Militant).
